M1s Promotion 2025-2026

What a year to be a Harrow fan. The flags are flying high at John Lyon School Playing Fields as the Men’s 1st XI have officially secured promotion following an absolutely breathtaking London Hockey League campaign.

Blasting past defenses and rewriting the record books, the M1s have officially been crowned Harrow’s Team of the Season, leaving a trail of broken scoreboards and stunned opponents in their wake. Let’s look back at how this historic promotion was won.

📊 The Promotion-Winning Season in Numbers

The sheer statistical dominance of this side over the 22-game campaign is nothing short of incredible:

Played Won Drawn Lost Goals For (GF) Goals Against (GA) Goal Difference (GD) Total Points
22 17 3 2 94 34 +60 54

🏑 Campaign Chronology: How the League Was Won

🍂 The Autumn Rampage

The tone was set right from opening day in September with a statement 4-2 away victory at Indian Gymkhana. Aside from a minor 2-2 speedbump against Wapping M5, Harrow went on an absolute tear through October and November.

The undisputed peak of this autumn golden run came on November 15th at home. In front of a raucous crowd, Harrow put on an absolute masterclass, obliterating local rivals Old Merchant Taylors M3 in a 10-1 demolition job that signaled to the rest of the league that promotion wasn’t just a goal—it was an inevitability.

❄️ Winter Resilience

Every championship-caliber team faces adversity, and Harrow’s came right after the Christmas break with a tight 2-1 slip-up against Indian Gymkhana M4. However, true to form, the squad didn’t panic. They bounced back immediately, stringing together hard-fought victories over Wapping (3-1) and West Herts (6-2). Even when a secondary setback occurred against a stubborn West Hampstead M4 line-up in February, Harrow responded by traveling to Paddington Recreation Ground and dismantling Hampstead & Westminster Thirsts 6-2.

🌸 The March Masterclass

With the finish line in sight, the M1s went into overdrive during the month of March. They ruthlessly dispatched Osterley 5-0, survived a tense 2-2 tactical battle against PHC Chiswick, and saved their absolute best for the grand finale. On March 28th, playing on their home turf, Harrow signed off the season in spectacular style with a 9-0 clean-sheet victory over West Hampstead M6, putting a golden exclamation point on their promotion certificate.

👑 The Sharp-Shooters & Award Winners

You don’t score 94 league goals without some serious firepower up front. While the entire squad played their parts to perfection, a massive shoutout has to go to Ben Dyson, who took home the club’s prestigious Top Goalscorer and Men’s Player of the Year double after racking up a phenomenal 29 goals.

It was far from a one-man show in the D, however. Nick Lendon was hot on his heels all season, finishing just three shy of the top spot with an outstanding 26 goals of his own. Together, they formed the most lethal attacking partnership in the division, safely cementing their places right near the top of the official London England Hockey Top Scorers Charts.

A Word from the HHC Committee: > “A massive congratulations to the players, coaching staff, and volunteers who made this dream season a reality. The brand of hockey played by the 1s this year represents the very best of Harrow HC. We can’t wait to see what this squad can do in the higher division next season!”

Celebrations are heavily underway at the clubhouse, but planning for next season’s higher tier begins soon. Congratulations once again to the Men’s 1st XI—completely deserved!
