A bit about Lucy:

"Hmm...I am a full time hockey coach, I love food but i’m not very good at cooking, I can do “the worm” (for the keen shape-throwers out there), I got married in July and August this year (legally and the party). I have played hockey since the age of 16 (30 years now). I only got into hockey because my friends were all hockey players and I didn’t want to be left out. I started my hockey in the UK with Indian Gymkhana and have over the years played for various clubs including Lyons at National League, but my favourite club and the one most dearest to me is and will always be Harrow where I have enjoyed the best part of my hockey, playing with some brilliant individuals from the UK and overseas."

Ladies Head Coach - Glenn Webster

Glenn Webster

A bit about Glenn:

"I have played hockey since i was knee high to a grasshopper and it runs through the family quite a few of whom are at Harrow. My most memorable achievement was winning the national indoor finals and playing in the European Indoor Club Championships whilst I was at St Albans HC. "

Where do you play your hockey?

Im now semi retired from playing but when i can i play my hockey at Harrow on the odd occasion when i can fit it in around my coaching commitments!

Coaching Experience/Qualifications?

I have been coaching hockey since around 2000 and working toward the England Hockey Pathway coach award (level 3 in old money!). I have coached up to national league indoor and outdoor and currently coach the U12 juniors as well as the ladies at Harrow. I love coaching and I take every opportunity to watch other coaching environments, talk to other coaches, attend workshops, view international and top level club matches as there is always something to learn or provoke a thought to keep you moving forward as a coach.

Coaching Philosophy?

Players want to enjoy hockey and i set out to help them achieve that. It varies from mens to ladies to juniors and different levels of ability, the environment I create reflects the dynamic and ambition of the group. I always want my players to challenge themselves, don't be comfortable with how good you are, take the opportunity to support and learn from each other, together we learn quicker and can become a more effective team.

Whats your favourite part of coaching?

Firstly facilitating players enjoyment from just playing hockey. Secondly seeing players making better decisions with improved technique in those magic moments in matches when they apply what they learn showing practice becoming permanent.

Recently I played hockey at Regional level but my heart always belonged to Harrow and after 2 seasons, I returned to my band of brothers."
